Just Pictures

Guy thinks this background is more my style. He is probably right. No matter how fancy I want to be, I am just a comfortable flannel shirt on a lazy saturday morning. Even though most of my saturdays are not lazy. Its funny to see me as I really am or as others see me. Sometimes, I wish I could be more....or different. Anyway, I think this is the background I will keep. Who knew it would be so hard to choose??!! I forgot to take the camera to Tommy's football game, so I will try again next week. Everyone have a great day!!

Well, my posting will be spotty for a while. Guy is trying a new line of work. He got his license to become a storm adjuster for insurance companies. I guess if you live in hurricane and tornado country, you should try to profit from it....right? He was gone for a week for more training and hopes to get called out for work on Ike. He will know by the first of next week. He will be gone for long stretches of time but hopefully if he is located here in Texas, he can come home on weekends. He will have to take our air card and so I will try to stay posted as much as I can. He also took our camera with him so I don't have any new pics.

Levi is standing for short periods of time on his own. Boe misses the kids while they are at school and demands Tommy and Johnny's time on the trampoline as soon as they walk in the door. They are good sports and love to go out there and jump.

I will get some pics up later. Have a great day!!

Wow!! This week was very busy! We started out with the baptism and ended up at the Rains County Fair!! Amanda was asked by a fellow 4-Her  to show his  extra heifer and so she didn't have to sit out totally. It was good for her, and helped her work on her showmanship skills.

The carnival was lots of fun. Boe and Johnny had a really good time. They like the same stuff and Johnny is a great big brother for Boe.

Happy 8th Birthday Johnny!!!

Well, its offical, Johnny is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We had to be dunked 3 times to get it right. First a finger, then a toe, darn those unruly appendages!! He was really happy. Elder Donadeo and mom gave the talks and were both awesome. He received his own set of scriptures with his name on the front and read the first verse in Genesis last night before bed. I think he will be the one dragging the rest of us to the celestial kingdom!! Good thing Heavenly Father sent him to us! He was born at a particularly hard time in my life and Heavenly Father let me know right away that he was very special and he would have a strong spirit. When he was only a few days old, Grandpa Mortensen was holding him and he smiled up at Grandpa and Grandpa cried. His spirit was that strong already and he knew his Grandpa by that same strong connection.
We are very proud of Johnny for taking this important step in his life. I am grateful to my husband who has given us the kind of spiritual guidance we need in order for Johnny to grow and become the kind of man that our Heavenly Father needs him to be.
Enough mushy stuff!! We had a great time!! With Unca Davey around, who wouldn't!! Enjoy the pictures and share in his wonderful day.

Well, I will keep the brown for now. Thanks for the input girls! Guy had a problem with anything too frilly. I don't know why, he doesn't really do anything with the blog. He does like to see what I have put up and he is the one with creative juice in his veins. We have Johnny's baptism tomorrow and all we did today was go shopping for gifts and enough food to feed everyone while there are here. I will post pics as soon as I can. Have a great day!

Also, I hope you enjoy the music. Amanda helped me with a few of the songs...I bet you can tell which ones. The others have been inspired by you or are from good memories.
OK Everyone!! And I mean everyone! As you all know, I am only as creative as the person who I steal the idea from!! So I can't decide on which background I should use. Give me your opinion. The spurs or brown?
Oh, and Hello to Abby!! I can't believe you found me! Please tell your family hi from me. Your little kiddos are soo cute. I bet you are a great mom.
And Trachel, you said that you like store bought jam more cuz' your mom had soo much homemade around. Well, my favorite cookies are Oreo's and my mom wins the county fair with her choc. chip cookies every year!! How backwards is that!! I completely understand.
I have really enjoyed all of you leaving me comments and feeling a connection with you through your blogs. Funny how we can feel that using some cold, heartless computer.
Love ya all!!!

Homemade Goodness!!

I have been busy today. Our neighbor offered us some grapes. In Idaho we never got free or even fresh fruit and my jam supply is running low so we said 'Sure'. Come to find out they were wine grapes but she assured me that they would make yummy jelly. I borrowed my mother-in-laws juicer and got busy. Here are the first fruits of my labor. Don't they look great. We will try it on biscuits for dinner tonight. I love that my mom took the time and patience to teach me how to do these kinds of things. I still had to call her three times with questions, but I am thankful to be able to provide such yummy things for my family. We don't even like store bought jam. Thanks to mom and thanks to grandma for teaching her!! If anyone wants some give me a holler!!

Chompers

I wanted to show off Levi's two teeth. He has had them for a month or so but none of you have seen them. I don't know of a better time to wein your baby off the breast than when he starts trying out his new chompers on you!! He was really bad at first so I started giving him food he could sink his teeth into and he is much happier. Me Too!! Oh and his new favorite exploring place is in the shower in my bathroom. He seems very proud of himself everytime he gets in there.

Gustav??!!

Well, one of the exciting things about living in Texas is the hurricanes. Did I say exciting ok terrifying would be a more accurate! So we made sure we had propane and water and realized all the things we don't have. Luckily, we are far enough north that we aren't really bothered by hurricanes. We mostly get some wind and rain. I tried to take a video with my photo camera but the storm has slowed down our wireless connection to the internet so I can't upload. I will try again later. Just want mom to know, we didn't get blown away and yes, Gustav will be gone by the time you get here.
